Good News! Call to Serve Accepted!!

The FCC congregation voted affirmatively to extend a call to Pastor Mike Hanneman of Platte City, MO to serve as the next setteled pastor of First Christian Church at a special congregational meeting on 2/21/21.  The Pastoral Search Committee contacted Pastor Hanneman after the special board meeting and is happy to announce that Pastsor Hanneman has accepted our call to serve as our next setteled pastor.  Mike and his wife Bonnie are excited to begin the next chapter of their lives serving our ministry and becoming involved in the Beatrice community.  From a vocatioinal standpoint, many details are involved as Pastor Hanneman leaves his secular career to become a full-time minister in a different state.  Becoming licensed in the State of Nebraska and obtaining standing with the Regional Church as a Disciples minister are just two examples of such details, the latter of which is not something that is accomplished in a few days.

On a personal level, pulling up roots in one state and finding a new home in another state is again a mulit-step process that typically takes some time to accomplish.  The Hannemans are eager to get their relocation to Beatrice completed and immediately began their house hunt to find a home in Beatrice in late February.  Within a few days of putting it on the market in early March, not only had the Hannemans accepted an offer to sell their home in Platte City, MO; they also had their offer to purchase a home in Beatrice accepted.  The Hannemans anticipate closing on the sale of both homes the week of April 18th.  They plan to have their belongings transported to Beatrice that week as well and be in their new home in time for Mike to begin his ministry as our setteled pastor on Sunday, April 25th!  So, not only will April be a busy and joyous month for the Hannemans, but also for our FCC church family, as we celebrate Easter and then begin to plan the installation service for our new pastor on April 25th.

As we prepare personally, and as a Church family, for Easter and our transition to a new settled pastor, we are in good hands with Pastor Collins as he provides pastoral care to our homebound, continues to lead us in worship during this Lenten season, and is working to bring special meaning to our Good Friday and Easter Sunday services.  We are so thankful for Pastor Jeff's willingness to serve our congregation and the congregational activities during this interim period.

We ask the members of our Church Family for their continued prayers for both of our pastors and their families.  If you have any questions as we move forward during this transition period, please contact one of the Search Committee co-chairs at their mobile phone numbers listed below.
